Elizabeth FitzRoy Support

We are celebrating! 50 years old in 2012
Fifty years ago Elizabeth FitzRoy had a vision to support adults with learning disabilities and educate other people about their needs. Today we now provide tailored support for almost 500 people across the UK. We are marking our 50th Anniversary in 2012 with many celebratory and fundraising events throughout the country. Just one of our many events is the new ‘FitzRoy Challenge’ – and we’d love you to join us. Please see below for more details on how you can join us in our birthday celebrations. Together we can transform lives.

This page will be regularly updated with new events – keep checking back for events in your area.

29 April 2012 – FitzRoy Challenge

We are very excited to announce our hiking challenge on 29 April 2012, starting in Petersfield and taking you through a stunning scenic route on the South Downs. Choose to walk 6.5 miles or complete the complete 12.5 mile hike – are you up for the challenge? Join us in raising money and awareness for Elizabeth FitzRoy Support, as well as meeting some of the team!

The FitzRoy Challenge is an adventurous 12.5 mile walk with steep climbs and descents in a beautiful part of East Hampshire. The undulating route follows much of the scenic Hangers Way (running from Alton to the Queen Elizabeth Country Park south of Petersfield) through spectacular beech hangers and dramatic downland in an area popular with walkers for its scenery and natural history.

Stunning views make the strenuous climbs worthwhile and you will be rewarded after 6.5 miles of serious walking up and down (and up again!) with a barbeque lunch at the Pub with No Name (The White Horse Inn, Priors Dean) – the highest pub in Hampshire. Water and snack stops are strategically placed to let you catch your breath after the Shoulder of Mutton climb.

After lunch the return route to Petersfield covers 6 miles at a more leisurely pace giving you a chance to continue to soak up the beauty of the area.

Date: Sunday 29 April 2012

Registration: £15 per person (includes lunch, water and snacks and T-shirt to wear on the day)
