Registered Care Home – Chris

Chris has lived at Linden Cottage, a registered care home in Uckfield, for 11 years. He lost his sight as a child but still recalls shapes, colours and objects. Staff encourage and support him to follow his wide range of interests and hobbies.

In particular, Chris loves music and going to live concerts. He plays the piano, guitar and bongo drums. He also goes out a lot and keeps in touch with friends from college.

Chris gets around his home by using the handrails to guide him. He communicates with his support workers via Makaton signing.

Chris is supported to go on holiday and sometimes flies abroad.

Chris says: “I like the staff here and can recognise them by their feel and their voices.”
